The good and the BAD [27 Nov 2006|11:21pm]
We had a great time at Outpost in Cebu. We love you people! Thank you thank you!!! That's the good side of things.

The bad side is this:

I honestly did not want to fan the flames by saying more things about these promoters but I can't hack the ill feelings. I really don't think I should hold back anyway. We will always give our best in a performance that we expect at least the treatment we deserve. For a balikbayan who wants to show how giving back to their country is done, I don't think they displayed anything that is Filipino for being unhospitable and unprofessional. The night before the flight, no phone calls from any of them to confirm anything, I thought they could've very well been flakes than just plain negligent.

The morning itself, it was a good thing we got to the airport (the wrong airport at that for their lack of coordination with us)early enough only to find out that Sherwin, our dear roadie who takes care of our gear, wasn't part of their list. Maybe an internet poltergeist took him out as he was part of OUR list, the list we sent them, including whatever else we need to be able to perform as expected, but that's that. I was starting to get really irked but Toti told me to keep it cool and give them the benefit of the doubt -- something which we all shouldn't have considered at any rate. So the good samaritan that is our manager paid for Sherwin's ticket. It surely was no skin off his back being that the people behind this would reimburse the expenses due to their faulty or shall I say ingenious business ethics that of course was a foolish presumption of ours.

The day after the gig, after waiting for more than half an hour at the lobby, we were given a signal by a man in his wifebeaters and a woman in her socks and told us that they cannot pay for the expenses because they have nothing on them. Why, ain't that sweet? The deal breaker here was the ultimatum that was given to them to wire the account lunchtime today or we break the good news to people that there are promoters like them who exist sick. The time right now would definitely pass for midnight lunch and well? We would rather have played for free than get that kind of treatment which I think nobody deserves, to think that one of them is in a band. For that I dont think they deserve to be spoken well about. We'd rather have a small gig in Manila with a glass of water and a warm welcome in exchange.

The second turn off is this: I personally wouldnt mind being in the same room with my brothers and my dad if you think about it. We can tell jokes and pillowfight till dawn and its not like we're apalled by each other's presence. I didn't want to send anyone a Supernova vibe by asking for more than what we need, but its more of enough or what is apt for us to have. I am a lady (fact, not fiction) and proper etiquette dictates something these people are unaware of. The rule is: you can only have another bathroom when you get another room and unfortunately these people dont want to spend for what is asked for in the first place. With all this said, I've come to the conclusion that if you are a new band, don't even think about doing business with these people. Nosaj Entertainment I think should just a. rename themselves or b. stay indoors and not move. Any form of transaction with these people will translate to a lot of time wasted. And for for them to ask us to get in the bus while our manager is trying his best to make a decent deal tells us what kind of people they are. Now I think I should stop talking or I might even be doing them a favor by promoting their company. They say any kind of publicity is good publicity so don't get me wrong, this is for bad publicity, and bad publicity to stick to their name.

long time no post! [20 Oct 2006|12:52pm]
wow. the past months have been pretty wild. not in a 'girls gone wild' kind of way though. *shrugs*. but the band has been so busy with gigs and projects. here's a list of what the band has been doing since our last post :P

1. www.updharmadown.net is finally up! please join the forums there. it's updated almost weekly so yehey.

2. we're part of the 'Buksan Coke, Buhay mo' campaign. yes, we did a jingle! this was a fun project because they let 7 bands do a Coke jingle without asking them to change their sound. so we were very comfortable and happy with the project. props to the McCann Team! :P

3. new music video! "Flicker"! this is a new song which will be the carrier single of independent film "Ang Pamana" directed by Romeo Candido. this November!

4. ROCK AWARDS!!! you can vote online! you've got until next week :o please support us :) www.fliptunes.net/rockawards

5. next single is "Layag".

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm there you go. for now:)

Fragmented Updates! [15 Dec 2005|11:26am]
I know, I know, we've been making updates on the album since September, but you must listen to this.

As we have told a select few, the album's projected release date was the 22nd of this month, from late November, coming from October, rooting out from September. The reason why we're moving it to YET another date is because the computer at Pipeline crashed last week. The last 2 drumtracks we've finished came along with it. Of course it's not anyone's fault, but we still have to make something out of what happened, tama?

And the only way to deal with it is to wait. Tadaaahh!

So yesterday, we went to Sweetspot to do some more mixing for tracks 5, 9 and 10 - sans the drumtracks. Noel (our sound engineer) said that the disk had to be sent to Singapore to get all the files retrieved. Cringing on that thought whilst going through track number 5, he gets a call and relays to us that the file recovery went from 75 percent to a full 100 percent - meaning our tracks are safe! Yun lang yun, actually. The news now is that the disk is now back in Manila, waiting to be brought back to Pipeline. Whew!

Include printing and CD pressing - which takes about two weeks, and we're all set. I have a feeling that our birthdays and the album launch will prophetically fall n the same month. *hint-hint*

:) [06 Dec 2005|12:22am]
Its been one great year.

One more thing we need to see: Little boi called Fragmented on the shelves and we're good to go. One of 4 final mixing dates to go, tomorrow night before the Studio 23 Xmas party gig. MALAPIT NA!

Thanks to everyone who never fail to support us.

--

Just dawned on me that we're all gonna go up one notch this January. January is for a fact, the official UdD month. Ean and I turn 22, Paul turns 24 and Carlos has to wait until June 3 to turn 24 but what the heck, hahaha!

Such a great feeling seeing at least one person dancing to your song. But nothing beats hearing a big crowd sing along with you. :)

Since our last greatest disappointment, things so far have turned merry. :) It all evens out, dear friends.

Exciting news for you all:

We've finshed a side-project just this evening out next month. We'll divulge all we know about it once we get a go-signal from the bosses. :)

Our album Fragmented is almost complete. I personally am betting on only 2 days of recording the remaining vocal and keyboard parts before all the final mixes are done. Add one week for pressing and printing altogether and we're all set! Waiting does NOT compute any longer :)

Christmas Au Go Go is just around the corner. DECEMBER 3 at Cubao X (formerly Marikina Shoe Expo in Cubao)! EXCITEMENT FILLS THE AIR! See all the Terno acts, Radioactive Sago Project, Wahijuara, Drip, Giniling Festival, Up Dharma Down, Daydream Cycle and Juan Pablo Dream! With guest bands: Bagetsafonik, Urban Dub, The Late Isabel, Soul Connection, Blazing Bulalakaws, Death By Tampon, Endo, Narda, The Sleepyheads, Salindiwa, Paramita and Nyko Maca!!! OMG.

We're also nominated for In The Raw Award at this year's NU Rock Awards happening on December 2 at The World Trade Center :) Many thanks to those who voted :)

Giving all the credit to ^.

Forced Birth [28 Sep 2005|07:56pm]
[ mood | grateful ]
[ music | Sorry For Those Who'll Be Getting This More Than Once - UdD ]

Our last decent entry was posted in May. Wow.

Can't deny the fact that we're having trouble with our schedules. If there isn't school, then there's work to consider--which means our weekdays are good as full. We're lucky enough that gigs don't start at 7pm sharp (unless its a mall tour) but as far as this kind of schedule is concerned, shoots, interviews and recordings are all squeezed in during the weekends.

Its fun in quite a crasy way, don't get me wrong. But at the advent of physical exhaustion, including personal ordeals (who doesn't have 'em?), you have pretty much nowhere to go but this one-stop shop I'd like to call, Anywhere In-Between Sets. Its quite a portable place, just got to find the strength to have a less-offensive fixated face. Its good practice for those who thought less of drama class.

So on to the few firsts after our first video (where someone wasn't present. AHEM), we had our first out-of-town gig in Dumaguete. I can't say any more about it, as I've articulated and dedicated more than a year's worth of raving even a month after the said trip. Its quite a taxing job to keep blabbing about how good chicken is in that side of the planet. Looking forward to the Bohol gig which should be in approximately 23 days. *drool*

Our second single should be heard on the radio in a few weeks' time, hopefully be able to shoot the accompanying video for it before the album is finished. Oh, pre-prod. I'm anticipating the pre-prod. See, if its a sponsored video, you get most of the good stuff and are told about it during the pre-prod. Theyre nothing like post prod where you discover how you could've done something differently to be cost-efficient, not even looking at the shots yet. :p

TV appearances and interviews from the past months are now being shown. We're also blessed enough to be having write-ups that have circulated from almost every month since May. There will be 2 other features for Preview in November and Meg in December as well. Also, part of the few firsts include the more accessible gigs. By that I mean a series of gigs at malls around the metro which should definitely get on any boss' ire being that it starts around the same time you should only be finishing up from work. Kawawa naman.

Butterflies at this point? Maybe a hawk or pterodactyl for a more pre-historic representation of things. Its all overwhelming and drives our acids, sweatglands and hormones nuts but at the end of the day, its all about being appreciated for what you do best that makes it all worth it.

You actually want more.

It doesn't stop.

Really doesn't.

Doesn't.
